I know it has been months since I have typed something up for my almost famous blog. I’m pretty sure it’s not that thing they call “writers block” and the reason I know this to be true is… you have to be a writer.
Ideas are constantly spinning into conversations in my head but if I waited around until I had something riveting to say… I never would have started a blog in 2015!
I take that back. My father passed away a few weeks ago and “we” (Graham and Mercy) have a new baby girl on the way. Both of which are riveting to me…down to the very core of ALL things riveting. But it is those monumental moments in life I seem to freeze. Afraid to move and afraid to breathe. I have the hardest time expressing my thoughts into mere words on a page. I’ll take a moment to say…I am at peace. My father had a pretty much perfect 95 years on this earth, and was by far the happiest man I ever have known. He told me so at every single visit I ever had with him. And this sweet baby girl that will be here in just a minute…well, she just might be the luckiest child ever born!
What I truly find “riveting” is other peoples lives! Listening to their story. Where they have been, the mystery of how they got here, and discovering where in the world are they going. I’m constantly intrigued by decisions people make. How hard they are willing to work. Why they believe in what they do, and what behaviors offend them. But I also very much need to know how they fell in love, what places do they want to see and, of course, what grosses them out the most. (I have an extensive list)
“They” say the more you listen the wiser you become. The more roads you travel the more experienced you are, and if you have bargained with the devil a few times like me the less mistakes you will likely make. As a younger girl I had three goals… popular, skinny, and popular. I wanted to be street smart like a whore after midnight, while holding a tight grip to my parents hand like frightened child walking into the darkness. What I’m saying is… it was hard for me to find me. My life desperately needed a GPS or at least a descent flashlight.
I now am clear about what I don’t know. Learning from everyone else’s connections and wisdom is what I have always wanted…and I have found a beautiful path. As I mentioned in the previous blog Haley and I were starting a project. We are not afraid, or even concerned with the outcome. We ARE interested in having fun and learning something in the process…we have managed to do both. So far, we have interviewed 6 successful intelligent local entrepreneurs for our podcast called “THE SCOOP” with Tracy and Haley. Coming soon.
I have to be honest…the women are so smart they make me feel a little dumb…. but I have never had so much fun!
side note…Haley is having a little baby boy any day. (her third child…first boy) This go around she is going to try for a home birth…
RIVETING….wouldn’t you say!
Kelley Friedman

Please do not stop writing your blogs after your podcast efforts begin. As your undesignated editor, I enjoy your writing. Your radio talent was obvious; therefore, I expect your podcasts to be good too. Unlike Andy, remember … I DID hire you!
Tracy Gaines
I find writing a peaceful task…talking comes somewhat natural…(especially at happy hour) but now I’m enjoying listening for a change. These young humans are so smart, vivacious, and have such interesting lives. You are the boss…when it comes to building me up…Dean Booth!

Love reading your blog. You always knew the latest news even before it was made. I’m so sorry to hear about your dad though. It’s hard to lose your parents. You feel a little lost in the world. Good luck with your interviews. There are a lot of intelligent, successful folks in Gainesville.
Tracy Gaines
I use to love a good gossip column! So I’ll just start one of my own…in podcast form!
